Snippets

Happy Birthday…

… to Sasha! We adopted her 3 years ago today. It seems like it’s been longer; I can’t remember what it was like before she came along. And I must take this opportunity to say: If you’re going to get a dog, please adopt one. That’s all. I won’t go into a full speech right now, or it wouldn’t be a “snippet.”

Sunday Morning Breakfast

I’ve figured it out—scrambled eggs and chai. The scrambled eggs keep me from starving during church, and the chai keeps me from falling asleep. Glad I finally got that worked out.

An Unpleasant Surprise

My mom brought over my baby book for me to look at, and I left it on the kitchen counter. Some time later, David asked me, “What’s with the creepy baby book?” “Creepy baby book?” I asked. “Yeah.” “My baby book is creepy?” “Yeah.” Then I figured out what had happened. He was flipping through it, apparently never having heard of the tradition of saving a lock of baby hair from one’s first haircut.

Sleeping Through the Night

Anna is. I’m not. After three months of fighting sleep, making myself wake up even when I’m very sleepy, and only sleeping for a few hours at a time, now I have to learn how to sleep through the night. I hope that happens soon. I’ve started working a Sudoku when I get into bed to clear my mind of everything else and focus on one mind-numbing thing.

So funny about the lock of hair. Maybe it is because he is a guy. I have thought if I should keep a lock of Will’s hair, or if he would think I was crazy when he gets older and not even care just because he is a boy. Though we never even considered it, I have heard of people even keeping the umbilical cord when it falls off.

Man, if I opened a baby book and found an umbilical cord, there is no measure to how severely I would freak out.

    hahaha:) david cracks me up!
I know how you feel about the sleeping problems. Piper has been doing pretty well, only eating once through the night but I’ve probably only gotten 2.5 hours of sleep each night:(

    Anna–
On the chai, I use the powdered chai latte kind that has all the sugar and dry milk and everything in it. I’m using stuff people gave me, so I don’t know where it came from.

On the class, yes, I thought it was really good too. Would have been better if my baby hadn’t been a turkey and kept me from attending the first half hour. She just wasn’t sure about Ms. Margaret, I guess. I look forward to next week!

J, Hey liked the post…Now I know how to make it through Sunday mornings. Very awkward putting yourself to sleep while teaching. :)
